Frequently Asked Questions

“We left it a bit late to book and we couldn't even get a boat – let alone one we wanted. How is the Quayside Club different in this situation?

We limit the number of members per boat to try and ensure that a boat is always available. (Of course, earlier reservation will enhance your chances of getting exactly the dates you want.)

“On our last hire boat the people who had it before us just didn't care.  Although the boatyard cleaned it well, we could tell it had been misused. How do you stop this happening?”

Club boats can only be used by responsible members – they can never be used by “all and sundry”. Members must adhere to a simple code of responsible boat use, and misuse will not be tolerated.

“We had to wait over an hour to take over our hire boat until someone was available to show us the ropes. And again when we returned, while they dipped the tank and signed us off. Can the Quayside Club avoid these formalities?”

All Club members spend an induction day with us where they get to know the boats. So then, each time they cruise there are no formalities – simply “load up and go”. And fuel is inclusive, so the boat can even be collected and returned when there is no-one at the yard.

“I was shocked when I tried to book a long weekend and found it was 70% of the price for a full week. Does anyone actually encourage people to take short breaks?!”

Cruise time can be booked from as little as 2 nights upwards – have it your way. And cruises can even be extended while you're onboard if the boat is available.

“Last year we were forced by unforeseen work commitments to cancel our hire boat at  fairly short notice. We lost most of our money. Can Key-holder help with this?”

With Key-holder, if this happens you simply change your dates! The only time this could be a problem is if the dates you can’t make are right at the end of a ‘season’ and there’s no free time left on your boat – but even then we’ll work around it in one way or another. It is also possible to contact other Key-holders on your boat to see if anyone would swap dates
